"If a Doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it."

Doula Services

A doula is a birth companion who offers continuous support for the mother and her baby throughout labour and birth. Studies have shown that the presence of a doula decreases the need for medical interventions, such as epidurals, vacuum extractions and forceps deliveries. A doulas support can shorten labour and lower the cesearaen section rate.

A doula offers emotional and physical support and empowers the mother to make informed choices during birth.

Anne is a certified MamaBamba Doula and has obtained her international Doula qualification with DONA - Doulas of North America www.dona.org

... nothing can prepare one for a first childbirth. But having Anne at our side was as close as it could come. Her caring nature, intimate knowledge, extreme commitment, caring soul and encouragement lent comfort to an experience I would have never been able to embrace were it not for her calming presence. She has a massage ability that was beyond a blessing whilst in the throws of labour and gave us her individed loyalty throughout our 48h process. Her assurance and experience gave confidence to my husband and comfort to myself when pretty much nothing else would have "cut it " .

What I experience in my massages from Anne which made me want her as a doula was her ability to touch without being invasive at all.., she basically just touches right. She does this incredible thing on the forehead which totally relaxes you just when you think you can't take any more and it took me into the calm place inside me and I could continue again.Amazing! She was warm and humorous, direct, genuine and supportive in every way. Anne definitely added to my second birth being calm and smooth. I wish I could give her to every lady in labour, she was such a blessing at mine.

Anne showed J. various massage techniques to use during labour and I feel it was a great way to get us more prepared for the big day. Anne is a great teacher and patiently explained the function of the various pressure points and how to stimulate them. I feel that the workshop with Anne empowered J. on the day and provided him with a set of tools that he was able to use. I feel it helped me tremendously to have practiced labour positions more extensively before the birth. I highly recommend "Hands on Dads" massage workshop with Anne to all expectant couples!
